Local Scam Watch

Our mission is to protect our community by shining a light on fraud, deception, and unethical practices affecting local residents and businesses. Local Scam Watch serves as a public information resource where people can learn about verified scams and stay informed about emerging threats in our area.

To ensure accuracy and fairness, all information published on this site is carefully vetted. We only share details supported by credible evidence, public records, or verified documentation. This commitment to transparency and accountability helps us maintain a reliable platform focused on facts—not rumors or speculation.

By staying informed, we can all help make our community safer and less vulnerable to scams.

Phone calls regarding Court/Bills

Scammers are posing as police or court officials claiming you missed a court date or grand jury appearance and must pay immediately to avoid arrest. They demand payment through Zelle, Cash App, Venmo, prepaid cards, or wire transfers. Do not send money or share personal information. Courts and law enforcement never collect fines by phone. Hang up and verify any claim by calling your local courthouse or sheriff’s office directly.
